Last week I went to an exhibition ‘The World is Sinking’ at the Third line Gallery.
The photographer Farah Al Qasimi presented a series of new photographs that traces locations in and around Dubai.
The Emirati artist produced images of her local area where she grew up and the rapid changes in landscape with regards to growth and development of the area.
Her ‘Square mile’ in affect. According to the brief the artist was taking a humorous approach to the multi-dimensional, multi-cultural and increasing hyper globalisation of the UAE in the last few decades.
From what I seen there was a couple of the images which truly represented that and these were thought provoking and ironic which I like. Certain images however I couldn’t understand why the artist thought these were relevant.
Overall I enjoyed the visit as it was purely for the enjoyment of Art.
